Patients with coronary heart disease received motivating text messages which led them to make healthy behavioural changes. After 6 months of receiving 4 texts per week, patients had lower cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass indexes when compared to the group that didn’t receive any text messages. Not only does this provide some evidence for the health benefits of technology, but also for the amelioration and creation of new apps targeted to improving public health.
