Wine presses dating back to biblical times have been discovered in Israel. Yet, winemaking has been illegal since Muslims conquered the region in the seventh century.

Nevertheless, graduate students at Ariel University are trying to match ancient seeds with live grapes and somehow genetically engineer the fruit to create ancient wine. They’ve created tiny batches of wine in search of the ancient types drunk by King David and Jesus Christ.
