Glance at the cover of any magazine or label in any health food aisle and you’ll find loads of unsupported, bogus claims. Don’t be fooled into spending your hard-earned dollars on chia seeds, açai and goji berries because you expect these foods to miraculously transform you into the healthy, fit and active person shown on the bottle.

If you really care about getting healthy, you have to remember three things:

Diets don’t work;

There is no such thing as a ‘superfood’;

And nothing worthwhile comes easy.

These words often fall on deaf ears. Naturally we are inclined to savour our energy and search for the easiest and least costly way of functioning. Unfortunately, this way of living, which probably conferred some evolutionary advantage years ago, may be contributing to our own ill health.
